A commission from A-kon. :D I don't usually do fanart commissions, really, except when the people are super-duper nice and have a cool idea. So at Akon, I had the opportunity to meet this couple. They were SO NICE, and this is the THIRD commission I have done for them. :giggle: As the only digital one (the other two were marker originals) they wanted May and the Totoro sleeping all cuddled. :D They also wanted it to be 11x17 inches. @.@ That size takes me SO MUCH LONGER. But I really like how this one turned out.

I have a really bad habit of drawing these pretty, sweeping backgrounds, and kind of... plopping my characters into is all fakey-posey like. This time I tried really hard to have the subjects interacting and effecting the background. :D I think I did pretty well, considering I've never drawn a Ghibli fanart ever. I hope I got Totoro right... I was afraid to look at references in case I tried too hard to copy. (my reference was a Plushie I had laying around) ^^;

Please comment. :D I'm really excited about this one :D

Tonari no Totoro / My neighbor Totoro is registered to Studio Ghibli :D

I love it, okaa-san~! n_n Tonari no Totoro is one of my favourite films~! You drew Totoro really well~!
This is very cute. ^^ The big... thing looks great and the girl's face and upper body are really well done. Her calves seem a little thin and her knee a little pointy. The setting is pretty. Perhaps having the ground brighter and the leaves in the forground darker might have worked better in reverse, but it's hard to say without comparison. I must say that I find it a little odd to not have outlines on the forground but have the figures outlined. It makes sense in a way because it brings the focus to the figures, but I think maybe a hint of some kind of outlinishness might make the elements in the forground a little less 'washy' and have some more form. Like the leaves and the grass beside them - they have form and a presense.

The space around them in the distance works great with the technique you've used. :D

For something like the large tree, what if you had some kind of texture on it, even if it were faint? It might be a nice contrast to the cell shading of the figures and create a nice play on the senses.

It's nice to see submissions from you. You never call me. :P

Wow! Very pretty.

~Just fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave~
Jareth, the Goblin King
That came out really well, you captured the characters, while keeping it in your own art style and it translates really well.
This gets a classic "Aww."
Wow, I'm completely in *squee* mode, sis. Seriously.

This has to be one of my favourite movies of all time. Especially because I saw it when I was only 5~6 years old. So many memories and emotions connected to this. :3

LOVE IT<3
This is wonderful, Lori-sama! The poses are great, the colors all work really well together and your shading is so crisp and perfect. Looks like it could be an animation cel!

Thank you Lord for loving one such as me. And Thank you Lord for my Nature Balm.

Please Help!
The Totoro looks good, the mood of the whole thing is sweet just like the movies. You might want to consider an edit on May's hands they're a bit off, kind of on the small size even for this style. That is up to you though.
